god I never know how to begind these, so please forgive me in advance.

I think I was kind of waiting to see if the fannish 50 challenge was going to resume, but I saw someone say that they were doing it and honestly - yeah, I think I'd like to try and keep it up this year even if there is no official join post or anything.

(If there is, do point me to it?)

Something else that I saw is snowflake_challenge, which is definitely not new, but it is new to me! It sounds really nice, and the questions are really interesting! Definitely more intense for the energy I currently have to spare, but I will be looking at the prompts and try to post with some!

Besides the Dreamcatcher anniversary fanmetting and how they are absolutely destroying me with both the pictures and the retelling of what happened after, there is something that I have been thinking for a while that I wanted to... I guess write down somewhere?

Do you know that feeling when something you like gets a sequel (that was not originally planned) and you're both super happy and super scared that it's not going to be the same? That's what happened with Leverage for me.

The show ended, and it ended well and it was all wrapped up nicely. And then a reunion show was announced. Not a reboot, but a continuation of the story. And I Was so happy because it is a show I love to bits but then when it started airing I... was never in the mood to watch.

That would have meant that the show would need to leave the very neat box of "finished shows" and go back to the other box where disappointment could happen. And we don't deal well with that in this house, guys. That I can tell you upfront.

In addition to that, there had been some cast changes, which I am very approving of, but that added to that uncertainty.

But god I am so glad I managed to swallow everything and started watching Leverage Redemption. Yes, it is different, it needs to be. But it also has the best part of the essence of the other one without trying to cling to it.

This show, you guys. I can't recommend it enough ♥

it's already december and I am nowhere near close to the 50 entries for the 50 fannish things, and I don't want to spam you -- it is not worth to do it on those conditions. However, I am going to try to get as close as possible.

And in that sense, today's fannish thing is that with the month of December it also comes vixxmas! Am I biased? Since I am the one making it, you could say I am.

Do I care? Not one second.

To recap a bit, VIXX and Dreamcatcher did the Amnesia challenge the other day!

Well, guess what was posted yesterday! Yes, you guessed correctly, Dreamcatcher and VIXX did the OOTD challenge!!

Is it silly and meaningless? Yes. Does that also mean they had to learn each other's choreo and I can now imagine them having to mingle? Also yes.

(I'm calling this VIXX the same way I'm calling Jiu and Sua, Dreamcatcher. iykyk)

Last week I was babbling about the excitement about the VIXX and Dreamcatcher comebacks that were to happen this week and expecting my death, expecting the worst for me, etc.

One of the things I said was that I was hoping for them to interact -- to be honest, I was talking more like being interviewed at the same time in Music Bank or some other show, because that was the most I thought I was going to be able to get, ever.

I was very very happy when they were on the same frame on TV when Red Velvet won, actually!

And then.

In other news, Project Sekai is having a collab with Sanrio and as someone who grew up with Hello Kitty the image of the 4* Miku card is bringing up some Feelings, for some reason?? The good ones. The rest of the cards are also ADORABLE.

It has been so long since I last did the fannish challenge that I didn't remember that it does not need to be done on Fridays rip.

However it's a good thing I remembered today because yesterday I fell asleep before I could come here hehe

So as you might have noticed by how this journal looks, I like VIXX. Big VIXX fan here. And they are having a comeback next week!! Amazing! After Parallel! (Maybe more if you look at the MV's on their youtube channel) (I am having feelings about half of them being there only but that's for another day)

And if you have known me for more than two seconds you might also know I also enjoy very much Dreamcatcher's presence. Also big Dreamcatcher fan here. And guess what? They are also having a comeback next week!

Within one day difference!

Whenever you are fan of more than one thing you always wish they kind of overlap for maximum enjoyment, and I can't believe I am getting that! With some miracle working they might even interact on music shows! (doubtful but it could happen)

But with one day difference? Please pray for your resident bi ace (me), because I am not going to make it.

On one hand we have VIXX possibly doing an mv with callbacks to their old eras, produced by Hyuk's company if the teasers are any indication, with as very little involvement from Jelpi as possible. (Medley here, but linking for the pictures)

On the other we have Dramcatcher releasing a punk rock song with very creepy narrative about a crown that makes people obsessed and where they are going to be villains. (Medley here, but tbh I'm linking for the pictures)

Every time I open the compose page I feel like getting a catchphrase just so I have something to start with -- a bit like the twinkle twinkle star writing trick... without the erasing part.

Maybe one day.

It seems like every time I post it's accompanied by a fic release by me, huh? I mean, I just finished a fic for kpop_ficmix, but it's not technically revealed yet (or is it? 👀) so I will just have to post to plug it later when reveals happen. In the meantime, do keep an eye on the postings as really interesting fics are being posted every day! (ficmix is an exchange-like fest where people remix one fic of their assigned person, and in turn they get one of their fics remixed by another person!)

I am currently on my annual vacation, two weeks (technically), and honestly it's going really well. What did I do? Absolutely nothing. I mean--- that's not quite right. I slept a lot, I got progress on training kitty to finally come to bed, and we have been napping in the mornings together in bed. That is, being quite honest, the highlight of my year.

As an update on the last post I have not finished the last ficbinding I was working on but I did make some progress, twitter is now a mess to check with tweetdeck being gone, so I feel like I am missing so much of the things friends do... The usual around this stage of the internet I guess? But I am sad anyway.

Very very excited for OFMD next month!! (And the trailer was amazing) and I'm checking out Mentopolis, from Dimension20 (like, literally as I write this I'm watching the first episode) and I am going through OPLA with my family. That one is funny because back when the anime started I watched as far of the anime as much as it has been adapted, so it's like it was made for me.

Honestly the reason why I stopped watching is because I never have the patience to wait so I was always planning to binge when it ended but... you know how One Piece is going...

Anyway, how has your day been going? ♥

P.S. One last thing! If you are into writing girl group fic, do keep an eye out on scarygirlynight around the first week of October 👀

So at this time I have to assume I am not going to make it to the 50 fannish posts challenge. The benefit to that is that at least I will let myself free from the obligation and might be able to post more?

Anyway.

Long time no see, hope you are well! So many new things since last time!

I posted a fic (Dreamcatcher, Dami/Yoohyeon, ~2k) for ForTheRecord fest as a pinch hit, which I am decently happy with all things considered! I am also currently writing another which is cool but also sucks because while I write I can't read as much and I miss reading so much!!

Also, a new community for kpop fic kpop_fic opened! I have been wanting to check it out and be more active but while I gather spoons for that, I know they are doing cool things!

(Anyone enjoying the Infinite comeback and concert content too?)

So many new thingies to absorb these last few weeks too! Good Omens and Heartstopper and the Red, White and Royal Blue were my particular choice, but I also know a vampire BL dropped that apparently was super good?

Also watched Nimona too and it was absolutely delightful -- an automatic rec if you have not seen it yet ♥

Was also able to go to the Mamamoo MyCon showing here in theaters!! It was weird, because my body wanted to feel the bass from the concert and it is not the same in theaters, but also it was so so cool to be able to do this! We have come so far, and I am so happy to have had the chance!

OH OH also!! I don't know if there are any HSM enjoyers around but THIS IS LITERALLY THE BEST NEWS EVER (to me). I can't wait to give it some time and go back to the tag and see if any fic pops up!!

I am feeling some kind of way about twitter and not having a good alternative for the fansites -- everything else I know I would be able to organize differently, but that is the one thing keeping me there and I absolutely hate it. By the way does anyone of you a good way to set an rss feed that is not terrible looking for twitter accounts?

Also TweetDeck died on me finally last week and god it was really the only way to make the site really usable for me (especially since I have like 10 accounts). That plus the whole media companies erasing things and not releasing physical media anymore is not helping to the whole mood of everything. idk. We'll see where we end at... In the meantime if you have good tools to mass download pics from Naver articles please share?

Also the best thing August has brought? I have been able to work some more on some fic binding. God if I were able to not work I would devote my energy to do this all day, it's so satisfying. Currently experimenting on ways to apply gold on the spine of books in a way that does not involve heat as I do not own, and I do not wish to own, an Iron; also working on an author's(friend's) copy of the fic too to send them.

Oh my, I was planning, hoping to write about OnlyOneOf's comeback because I was excited about it and don't get me wrong, it was GREAT and the suggestive pairings make my heart tingle so much!!

But also 9-1-1 COMES BACK ON MONDAY FROM THEIR CHRISTMAS HIATUS AND THEY HAVE BEEN RELENTLESS SHOWING THINGS OFF THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS.

Of course a lot of that are spoilers so I am not going to like openly discuss them here (edit: actually, I am, but under the cut below!) but like if you have seen them and are interested PLEASE COMMENT I can't wait for monday it's going to be GREAT

Also also Dreamcatcher posted Sua's videoblog this week and there were the cutest moments with Handong and I am so weak for them, they have my whole heart.

This entry is a mess because I keep editing to add things instead of making new entries but also looking for the links for the Sua and Handong things I also saw the new official art for the Japanese event going out now? Last week? for Project Sekai and I am just AMAZED AND IN LOVE.

Also also it's been 4 years since Hongbin started streaming and he celebrated and was very honest and open on stream and I love this lil bean ♥

gay, introvert, and fandom

Let it be known that I am fully aware that people are more than just a mix of different buzzwords. I promise I don't go around doing that to people.

However those three (gay, introvert, and fandom) are three that I tend to identify easily with. If I had to add to it, I would probably be able to find more, of course (~~cats~~) but it's a pretty good summary as it is.

I don't even think I noticed as much, until I realized that the last three covers Sub-radio did hit pretty much these aspects (one for each of them) and honestly it feels pretty great.

For better or worse, Sub-radio are a group that got into my radar at some point when I started dipping my toes on Tiktok. If it's one thing I'll be grateful to that app for, it's finding them (although to be fair, I have seen them around on Tumblr posts too, but they are re-uploads of their Tiktok videos, so it stands).

ANYWAY

They are so good at what they do and I don't want to do them a disservice by making them known only for their covers but it's just. I like their covers so much. They are funny and I can relate to them and they are the fic version of songs, it's just perfect ♥

☆ There's Stacy's Dad, a (gay) version of Stacy's Mom

☆ Then there's Mr. Darkside, a version of Mr. Brightside, but where the protagonist of the song is well... Darth Vader.

☆ And then there's I Don't Wanna Dance With Nobody, a version of I Wanna Dance With Somebody but for people who do not really want to go out. This one is not full yet, and therefore not uploaded on youtube, but you can find parts 1 and 2 on their tiktok.

☆ ACTUALLY, browsing their tiktok while searching the links for this I also found Dear Mario, a Super Mario Bros. Dear Maria cover.

I don't know, they seem like cool guys, and while I have listened to some of their songs and are really my kind of jam, these are something that I find myself showing people again and again. So of course, I'm showing y'all too!

Of course, the moment I sit to write some fic is the moment I remember about this. It's almost like I'm procrastinating or something.

Oh well.

Lately I have taken up to playing Hades. And by "taken up to playing" of course I mean starting the game and dying about 26 times now. I have God mode activated, so that means that I am very very close to 100% hit resistance and I might able to get out of there at some point.

At least I get to pet Cerberus every time I die, that's definitely a highlight of my game ♥

ALSO I am not sure I am a NewJeans fan but I'm a fan of whatever they are doing with their Heesoo character and the latest storyline!! Today, when I thought she would not post more, she released her OMG MV, dated in 2023, and I'm all emotional over it ;;

It's the year 2023, and I can't believe I am going to talk about Teen Wolf, but here I am.

I am not going to give a review of the movie because... well, mostly because I haven't seen it, but also because I am terrible at reviews.

I just feel like rambling about my feelings about this because they are complicated. Because by all the objective measurings Teen Wolf, both the show and the movie, as storytelling it's terrible. As a supernatural show of course there are things that you should suspend your disbelief about, but even within the logic of the show there are things that don't make sense. And then of course it's a TV show that has external constraints that never do any favors to anyone.

It's bad, terrible. If you asked me, I would not be recommending you to watch it. Not if you want to enjoy the story.

And yet, there's something they managed to do really well, and it is to create charismatic characters that you get attached to. That you get invested into and are willing to suffer through terrible things just to see if they are okay.

And charismatic characters make fandoms grow, a lot of the time. It did, in this case. This is one of the best cases I have, personally, for which canon is a suggestion and a place for me to get the ideas I get to keep and discard the rest without guilt. It gives home to great fic. Varied, both in topics and length, and tastes. It's not a perfect fandom, but it's big, despite the original content's faults.

So here I was, ten years ago, about to have my heart broken by this specific story choices, because it went against everything it had been building before. I remember being so angry at this specific content that I spent about 24 hours ranting with a friend about how little sense it all made. That had never happened to me before.

That was the moment, in hindsight, that I started to step away from the canon.

I thought I had moved on from that feeling. I would be able, of course, to complain at length about it, and I don't think I will ever forgive them for that?, but I thought I had been able to distance myself enough that whatever thing they did, I would be able to let it slide and laugh about it.

Well, turns out I was wrong. Not sure on which part, if it is because I have not really moved on, or because not even my brain could think they would do this, and do it the way they did it, but I learned about what happened on Thursday and whenever I think about it I can feel that feeling again. Of hurt and disappointment and betrayal.

Because how could they do this.

I don't have a point with this. Except how I apparently don't really move on from fandoms, I just accumulate them and keep them dormant until they come again. Not news to me, but it had never backfired on me like this.

P.D. In other news, I have recently discovered the Game Changer full episodes on youtube, and the Um, Actually ones too, and I plan to go through them as slowly as I can (which is not much). Not sure I'd consider them a fandom but they are for sure fandom adjacent.

Also considering starting to watch Critical Role? I have never watched a D&D campaign, but episodes are long and they look more appealing to me than podcasts so I might give it a try sometime soon.

It was the reward after the ending of this week's Project sekai's event (here is the game mv), and while I usually take some time to warm up to songs (id smile I'm looking at you) this one was an instant hit for me 💕

ALSO last week boulevarddouble recced insomniacsy's fanmade mv for Fairytale (I had watched it before but god it was so nice to do it again!!) and so I am paying it forward to all of you :D

Fannish Friday?

So before the year ended, I signed up to the Fannish Fifty challenge, where you write 50 posts about things you are fannish about, on Dreamwidth.

I thought, hey, 50 posts, 52 weeks in a year... doable!

And then I completely forgot by day 2.

But we are on week 2, this is still completely doable! And I am using work time because it is when I remembered and I don't want another two weeks go by before I do this.

Today, this blessed Friday 13th, is Dreamcatcher's 6th anniversary debut 💕 And the MV for their latest fan song was just released while I was typing this sentence!!

I am going to go watch! I forgot what else I wanted to say anyway.

Perks? of stress and growing old I guess.

EDIT: it's the best song that has ever existed, and the MV is so fucking cute, I love them so much 😭
